Nepal’s interim government leadership remains uncertain

Gen-Z Nepal Protests

Nepal’s Gen Z activists, whose large rallies brought down the K.P. Sharma Oli government, are still unable to reach an agreement on a person to lead the next transitional administration.

The army is working to restore order in Nepal, after the worst violence in two decades removed the Prime Minister and set the parliament on fire.

The Gen Z campaigners have assembled outside the Nepal Army headquarters for meetings with Army Chief Gen. Ashok Sigdel, who has been granted permission to deal with the protestors.

Mr. Ghising, the previous Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, is largely recognized with resolving Nepal’s years-long power outage situation. He was controversially removed from office in March of this year, prompting widespread criticism of the Oli government.

Movement restrictions were temporarily removed on Thursday morning to allow individuals to obtain food and critical staff to continue their duties.
